(Broach, by Andrew Grima. 1965)
Andrew Grima
Andrew Grima was a true original.
If Pierre Sterlé could be said to embody the spirit of the 1950’s, the same could
be said of Grima and the 1960’s.
A landmark exhibition at Goldsmiths Hall was a turning point establishing Grima
as a leader within the field of post war jewellery design at an international level.
His jewels were cutting edge and completely original, inspired by nature his work
is organic in form with abstract textures and predominately using large semi-precious
stones.
For Grima design was more important than intrinsic value.
